Law Plus Plus: First NC Law Firm to be Certified as B Corp
Certified as using business for good
(DURHAM, N.C.) April 12, 2016 – Law Plus Plus, a revolutionary small business and nonprofit law firm based in Durham, North Carolina, is excited to announce that they are a Certified B Corporation. This designation is granted only to companies who use the power of business for good. Law Plus Plus is the first law firm to be a Certified B Corporation in North Carolina, and the thirty-third B Corporation in North Carolina total.
“Law Plus Plus was formed to make the legal system, and the world, a better place,” Richard Bobholz, Managing Partner of Law Plus Plus, explained. “We want to make the legal system easier and more transparent for business owners, while simultaneously incentivizing other business owners to give back to the community through community service and pro bono work. Becoming a certified B Corp was the obviously choice for us.”
The process took over half a year and involved an evaluation of Law Plus Plus’s employment, environment, social justice, client mix, and suppliers to ensure that Law Plus Plus was having a positive impact on the world as a whole. The certification process begins with an assessment and meeting strict requirements. After that, Law++ was interviewed and required to submit supporting documentation.
Law Plus Plus joins the ranks of other companies such as Bull City Burger and Brewery, HQ Raleigh, Murphy’s Naturals, and other Certified B Corporations in North Carolina.
