Law Plus Plus Receives Outstanding Law Firm Pro Bono Award
Law++ awarded for outstanding and creative pro bono program
(DURHAM, N.C.) June 21, 2018 – Law Plus Plus, a revolutionary small business and nonprofit law firm based in Durham, North Carolina, received the North Carolina Outstanding Law Firm Pro Bono Award from the North Carolina Bar Association.
“We are honored to receive this award from the North Carolina Bar Association,” Richard Bobholz, Managing Partner of Law Plus Plus explained. “It is great to be recognized for the good work we’re doing as a firm.”
The Outstanding Law Firm Pro Bono Award was based on the following criteria: “Consideration will be given to a firm’s hours of service and/or percentage of “billable hours” devoted to pro bono work; number/percentage of attorneys providing pro bono legal services; creative approaches to encourage pro bono participation; and consistence of the firm’s efforts to provide pro bono assistance.”
Law++’s pro bono programs can be summarized in three parts:
- Pro Bono Plus which provides a sliding scale payment option for low-income and low-wealth individuals, instead allowing these individuals to pay some or all of their bills with volunteer hours at local charities.
- Good+Wills program which provides a free estate plan for families in need with the purchase of any flat-rate estate plan.
- Organizational Pro Bono: Law++ volunteers with organizations such as Legal Aid, Duke Law School, UNC Law School, and the North Carolina Bar Association.
“Pro bono is a huge part of our firm,” Richard explained. “It’s important for us to invest in our community.”
